Onwards and upwards

The gable end is getting there and reinforcements have arrived.

My parents got here on Tuesday and have already made a dent in the render (Dad) and the window frames and second whitewash coat (Mum)

Not only that, but another 2 visitors arrived, Rachel and Yann, who are getting stuck in with gusto. Happy days! I might stick my feet up for a day or so…

With a bit of luck and good weather, we will get the gable end pointed tomorrow and the gutters and downpipes painted.

The veg garden is also providing amply. Last night’s dinner was all homegrown, apart from the Tiree-caught Mackerel. Nothing came from a supermarket, which was awesome. And tonight, the tomatoes came from the greenhouse.

I finally decided not to let the giant courgette become a marrow, and instead picked it. It is delicious and will last a few days, even with a house full.
