Greenhouse rising…

This was the greenhouse.

Last year I successfully grew lettuce and spinach (before the sheep broke in and ate it), and tomatoes in it. Without a roof, or a door.

Then the storms happened, and the greenhouse keeled over. It took me ages to pick up all that glass.

So, on a budget as usual, I am rebuilding, It’s coming up to spring and I need to get planning. Stage one is to have my greenhouse back, or at least a semblance of a green house.

A few weeks ago, I finished demolishing what was there and dug out the concrete found. I have laid new flagstones from B&Q, and old slabs from around the croft.

With a mixture of reclaimed wood from round a croft and the left over wood I bought for framing the garret, I have done a basic frame. It’s tied into the wall on two sides and isn’t so much as twitching. Fingers crossed the concrete holds!

Next step is to finish the framing and get the uPVC sheets on. The weather will need to improve first, though!

Looking good. Hope you don’t have to wait too long for a bright, still day to carry on the build.

    Hey lady,
I wish I’d known about your blog, I’ve had a great afternoon reading it.

I’m going to put a link to it from my blog because I think some of my readers would really enjoy reading about your exploits.

Tell you what, as a wee incentive. Get that greenhouse usable for this summer and I’ll send you up some homebrewed treats to celebrate.

You’re on!! I’ll get on to it tomorrow 😉 I do actually need to, those tomatoes and cucumbers could do with starting early. Thanks for the link – as soon as I do a links page, I’ll reciprocate!
